ADD and ADHD not uncommon on college campuses - The problems of
attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
are widespread - even on college campuses. Both are neurological
disorders of the brain that cause an inability to focus and a tendency
toward hyperactivity. Although these disorders are typically found in
children, about 60 percent of all cases persist into adulthood. The
disorders are treated with a form of medication called methyl phenidate,
more commonly known by the names of Ritalin, Adderall or Concerta by

Dealing
With Depression In College /College is a
privilege - For many students, it can be a
recipe for success. For others suffering from depression, college can be a
disaster. Even deadly. The college campus can be a pressure cooker for the
student mind. There are tests to take, papers to write and friends to
find. For most students, this is their first taste of freedom. It is their
first time out on their own. For students fighting depression, it often is
not any fun. In far too many cases, it is fatal. Untreated depression is
the leading cause of suicide, and this year, around the country, more than
1,000 college students are expected to take their lives by WCCO.com |

Exam stress is a real killer - There's little more than a month to go
before the 2004 matric examinations start on November 8, but already the
signs are there: debilitating stress, erratic behaviour, midnight oil and
- at the very dark end of the scale - a frightening number of youngsters
who simply cannot take the pressure and opt to take their own lives
instead by Bhavna Sookha |
