Calls for Tenerife tragedy inquiry - Politicians from across Merseyside last night called for an inquiry into why an elderly couple who felt abandoned by the NHS flew to Tenerife to kill themselves. Leading health campaigners said "people need to be brought to account" following the suicide pact between Bill and Wendy Ainscow, from Prenton, Wirral. The couple wrote a desperate suicide note and sent it to the Daily Post hours before swallowing a cocktail of drugs and walking into the sea.
